This Week In Chumash Basket Making
This week has been really busy and I would like to share a summary of my basket making schedule. I have been working hard on my first Chumash basket. The image provided is of me working on my Chumash basket. This image features a handmade deer antler awl that is used to create a small hole and the juncus is sewn into it.
Weekly schedule;
*Monday: Today I will work on my first basket. 3 Hours in the morning trying to complete a row of my primary design. I ended up spending an hour fixing up some early pattern stitches that were slightly off.
Later on in the day I finished a complete row of my Chumash basket. Although it was a challenge I powered through and got it done.
Tuesday;
3 hours of work today and I am working on the second row of my main design. I noticed that my stitching on the right side is slightly different than the stitching on the left. This was crucial to figure out because it will allow my pattern to be uniform to the eye.
Wednesday;
I was lucky to get in an hour of work on my Chumash basket today because I had some ceramic work to complete.
I was unable to work on my basket the rest of the week, but I am pleased with the progress. Once again thanks for your time and I will for sure have future posts about my process and projects.
